Global Governance in Question (Critical Introductions to World Politics)

Like many buzzwords, "global governance" is poorly understood. Mainstream usage of the term neglects to consider the fact that it co-exists in a capitalist inter-state system. This book presents a critique of the mainstream definition and usage of “global governance” from a historical materialist standpoint. It argues that global governance is a project that aims to transform neo-liberal values into “common sense.” The book analyses key moments and institutions that comprise global governance, and presents a critical insight into its real nature and the interests that it serves.
