A Bush in Hand

In this tale to do with the relentless and uninhibited pursuit of self-interest, Felicity and Oliver never really gave much thought to the swamp of brutality, mistrust and craven desire which they believed their polite society had long ago left behind, that is, until they found Abelard. He is a man made by the only memories he possesses: a childhood in medieval Gascony; as a Captain in the Black Prince's armies during the Hundred Years War; as a ruthless brigand stalking the highways of Fourteenth Century Europe; and as a mercenary to the Italian city states. They are baffled at Abelard's ease with most anyone: those who manage large corporations; dodgy characters who run timeless criminal organizations; and with those who deeply care for him. How is this possible?
