Description

Explore the unique and confusing chess of Canadian Grandmaster Duncan Suttles

The third volume of a three-volume series on Canadian Grandmaster Duncan Suttles features 300 games which begin with the "B" to "E" categories of openings, using the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings opening classification system.

For much of his career, Suttles played 1.e4, and in this volume examines his unique approaches to the Alekhine's, Caro-Kann, French and Sicilian Defenses. The reader will discover new possibilities in the advanced variations against the Caro-Kann and French, learn to fear the Portland Attack (although for which side might be in doubt), and will fond a gold mine of ideas in the Closed Sicilian.

As Black, Suttles was an unwavering proponent of 1...g6, and devotees of this opening will find many "Rat" and Pirc Defenses, including games against some of the world's top players. Suttles didn't play favorites! He played fearless chess, and the final volume of his game collection contains its full quota of dramatic, intense struggles.
