Pacific Spirit: The Forest Reborn

Pacific Spirit departs from the main by celebrating the splendour of new forests. A personal essay in words and photographs, it explores the beauty, biodiversity and spirit of the new forests of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest growing back after logging. It conveys the timely message that our forests are capable of returning to their full grandeur, even after large-scale clearcutting, and the spirit of the forest need not be lost in this transition.

Patrick Moore's message is based on personal knowledge and experience -- as a member of a family who have been logging on northern Vancouver Island for three generations -- and as a lifelong environmentalist who was a founding member of Greenpeace. A forest ecologist by profession, he has a strong love for the rainforests of British Columbia. Written in clear non-technical prose, Pacific Spirit presents a powerful counterpoint to the claims of some environmental groups.
