The Bible In Brief: The New Testament Before delving into each of the books in the New Testament, the author provides short descriptions of the various religious sects introduced in the opening of the New Testament. A brief description of each book of the Old Testament is given, providing a synopsis on its author, the probable dates the book was written, as well as the key words and key verses to recognize. Many comparisons are made between similar books or authors to show how they center on entirely different aspects of Christ, and yet lend new meaning to each other. Biographies of the New Testament What God desires and expects from His followers can be seen in the examples of these New Testament characters. They come from diverse backgrounds, some good and some not so good. The way they responded to God's calling or correction can be a lesson for us, as "these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition" (1 Cor. 10:11). Elaborating on the definition of these biblical names, the author emphasizes the pleasure we can enjoy when we give our lives in service for God.
