Chloride Channels

Chloride Channels summarizes progress on each of the major classes of anion channels and relates this to what is known of their molecular biology and electrophysiology. A team of international specialists gives significant new insights into the physiological and pathophysiological role of chloride channels in many cell types and molecular techniques, focusing collectively on specific aspects of chloride channel function and regulation and also discussing their more general importance in human physiology and disease. The text describes in vitro and in vivo observations supported, where possible, by basic pharmacological observations dovetailed with results of molecular experiments, and the concluding chapter reviews the therapeutic potential of chloride channel modulation that is likely to follow the success of calcium, potassium and sodium channel modulators in the treatment of disease.
