The British 5th Division has fought in almost every theatre of every war since its formation in 1906. It suffered considerable casualties in the First World War and few lived to serve in Ireland. It remains in service today, based in Shropshire. During the Irish War of Independence it controlled most of Central and Western Ireland. This book makes available for the first time the history of the 5th Division in Ireland from 1920 to 1921, their account of the War of Independence and how they fought it.
