Lighter in tone than its prequel, Lochinvar is cut from the same cloth as The Three Musketeers and Les Miserables, but with a distinctive Scottish flavour. There is adventure, espionage and of course a love story, which travels from Holland to the Highlands as well as spending a deal of time in Galloway. In all locations Crockett does justice to his skills of natural description. Bearing little relation to the poetic version of ‘Young Lochinvar’ this is nonetheless a great adventure romance story.
