The Bear

The Bear is a series of humorous and endearing paintings that detail the bond that forms between a first time parent and their child. It started as a effort by Sohmer to capture the fleeting moments of parenthood but turned into a project that resonates with mothers, fathers and children alike. Sohmer's words are paired with Dreistadt's exquisite, vibrant illustrations of animals both exotic and common. The book is comprised of 49 stand-alone pages printed on high quality glossy paper stock. The cover is a textured dark blue faux-suede with a silver de-bossed title. The Bear is printed in Canada.
