In this book, "Has Anybody Seen the Trumpet Player?", Don Z. Miller pulls out of the fire of jazz events past some chestnuts, memories of 25 years of producing jazz. Although the chord structure of these stories about jazz musicians is loose and a less than serious one, there is a theme throughout the book of admiration and awe of the jazz musician who composes, arranges, and plays extemporaneously without a net (as they say in the circus) every time he or she performs.
