Longbourn

After Algernon Bennet endures twenty years of exasperating marital bliss, his lady suddenly dies. Recovering from the shock, he intends to relish the unexpected tranquility of single life at his beloved estate, Longbourn.

Instead, he is thrust into a desperate situation and must save a daughter from imprisonment. Then he must try to free a young man already in prison. The tranquility he looked forward to eludes him, but, in compensation, he amuses himself by making the heir-apparent to Longbourn fear circumstances will deprive him of his inheritance. A lady looks on, more than willing to help him play his game.
