These Things Don't Happen

KC Hinter, a female trying to survive in a male world, is somewhat self-impressed by her credentials and struggles to deal with those she feels are less knowledgeable than herself. She suddenly finds herself in a situation where her survival is threatened. As she struggles to make sense of the situation and form a plan, she realizes she will be unable to survive without the help of others. She comes to realize that even though she has interacted with many people she really doesn't know any of them well enough to be sure who to trust. She finds herself literally running for her life not knowing what her next move will be.
