The Pennings of Perrine Slim: Stories of Northwest Orange County Florida

Perrine Slim penned stories of the area of Northwest Orange County, Florida, over a three year period from April 2009 through December 2011. His particular focus is the relationships and community of the greater Apopka area. He relates the living conditions, relations, jobs, and businesses of the people in the area from the times of the Timucua tribe through current day. Topics include slavery, turpentine production, citrus production, progress from horse and riverboat to automotive transportation, Jim Crow segregation laws and their effects, education over the centuries, and the effect of education on the lives of residents living 'below the TO&A Railroad tracks'.
