Israel Thinks is a collaboration between IsraeLinks and the Rohr Jewish Learning
Institute (JLI). This book contains a selection of fascinating and fundamental JLI
lessons, carefully selected, with input and guidance from IsraeLinks’ administration
and faculty, to enrich your experience in the Holy Land.
This course is packed with many of Judaism’s essentials. It covers our beliefs and
theology, including such hard-hitting subjects as faith vs. intellect and the famous
“Why do bad things happen to good people?” It delves into mitzvot and Jewish
practices such as Shabbat, kosher, mikveh, and lifecycle traditions.
It presents Jewish wisdom and insight on finding happiness, achieving success, and creating and maintaining loving relationships. And of course, it explores our responsibilities as
Jews—both spiritual and social responsibilities—to society at large.
