More Than a Game

Just breathe Kara, you can do this, you know you can. Everyone in the gym froze and focused their eyes solely on me. I know what I need to do, but can I do it? Okay, I need to just sink these two free throw shots to put this game away and send our team to its first ever state basketball tournament. Stay calm Kara, tune out all distractions and focus only on putting this ball through the hoop. In the midst of adversity Kara chased her dream of playing basketball but facing times of hardship left her dream uncertain. Adolescence is often a difficult time for many. For Kara the challenges she faced began in junior high school and were like no others she had ever experienced before. With the support of her best friend, Kasey, Kara bravely faces the challenges that come her way during her first semester of junior high. Kara encounters many new and unfamiliar obstacles that place her in some unpleasant situations. Kara learns first hand how the peer pressure of wanting to fit in and impress the older students forces her into making some wrong choices. Academic difficulties and the low self-esteem she has from her parent's divorce aren't making things any easier either. Kara must find a way to overcome these challenges if she has any hope of pursuing her passion of becoming part of the basketball team. Will Kara be successful in reaching her dream or will her dream be benched as she gives into the pressures?
