The Loess Hills

Ferg, a young man out of work and forced into the life of a hobo during the Great Depression, is tossed headlong into an adventure he didn't want. Another Bo, one who befriended him and saved his life, presses a valuable watch into his hands and with his dying breath, makes Ferg promise to return it to his family.

Ferg, with great misgivings, sets out to do so, traveling from California to Iowa over the rails. But the danger and troubles he encounters on the way there are nothing compared to what's waiting for him at the journey's end.

Author William B. Weldon based Ferg and his life as a hobo on accounts told to him by his father who road the rails during the depression - a real hobo with a treasure trove of stories to tell.
