This book provides a hands-on approach to mentoring within the local church. While there are some mentoring resources within the market, the authors believe that none of them seem to provide adequate guidelines for mentoring on the local church level. This work provides a practical approach to meeting the mentoring need within the local church. The need is great at all age levels. This specific work addresses the needs with the college ranks, but the strategy the authors have developed is certainly transferable to other age groupings. The great crisis within the church has to do with spiritual formation and transformation, and mentoring meets this need head on. Mentoring provides the approach needed to create the vital environment for sustainable spiritual growth to occur. The one-on-one dynamic provides the opportunity for spiritual growth to take place within the relationship that is formed. The relationship is formed around the simple conversations the individuals will have. God created us with a capacity to have a conversation with Himself and with others. God made us relational because He is relational. The simple dynamic of a conversation creates an opportunity for life on life interaction to develop. The conversations will provide the needed environment for spiritual growth to occur.
