Description

La Noche Tuvo Miedo / Night Was Afraid to Fall is a bilingual Spanish/English poetry book dedicated to Jeannette Kawas, an Honduran environmentalist assassinated in the mid 90’s for protecting the coastland on the northern part of the country. The author uses the ocean as the central theme to share his message and his own experience. M. Jane Roberts, a poet who translated the poems from Spanish to English, says “I have never been to Honduras. And yet, Fr. Addison’s images are so vivid that I can practically smell the sea air, feel the sand between my toes and hear the wind in the palm leaves when I read them.” Marco Tulio del Arca, a renowned Honduran poet, has this to say about Fr. Addison’s poetry “Orlando surprises us with his fresh style and with the rhythm of his words. These words are profound and serious, couch in a language that is clean, calm, direct and convincing. His poetry has the flavor of sun and sea.” And M.L. Liebler author of “Wide Awake in Someone Else’s Dream refers to Fr. Addison’s poetry as “a sublime contemplation of all that is good in this world. His images are fresh and moving, and his poems bring new insight into areas of the everydayness of our lives."
