My Life With Harry--The Mule

Marie Vaughan's childhood ended abruptly in 1929 at age 8 when her father told her that he needed her to help him plow the fields on their farm in southeast Missouri. For 9 years, Marie did the work of an adult male, plowing, cultivating, harrowing and haying with a favorite mule named Harry. Although she, Harry and the other mules helped keep the farm productive, it was not without obstacles and mishaps. My Life With Harry--The Mule is based on the life of Marie Vaughan Fikuart (1920-2011).
