British author P.G. Wodehouse (1881-1975) is generally regarded as the finest comic novelist of the 20th century. In a writing career spanning over 70 years, Wodehouse published some 100 books, including those featuring the famous gentleman's personal gentleman, Jeeves. Wodehouse was knighted by Queen Elizabeth January 1975, mere weeks before he died at the age of 93.
