Description

Christmas with the Grandparents! What an exciting time for Anne and Philip’s families! But a snowstorm sends both families toward home early. The actions of a reckless hit-and-run driver lead to a two-car collision, killing both sets of parents. We follow the lives of the two surviving children as they go from childhood through the retirement years in Lincoln, California. One child, Anne, convinced that she was purposefully left behind when her parents ‘went to see Jesus’ and that they took their love with them, has decided she will never let anyone love her again so that they can’t take their love away. Her journey is one of more loss--and, as she puts it in her old age, “many founds.” One of those “founds” is a faith in Jesus. Philip, injured badly, faces the possibilities of losing his leg. He journeys through painful recovery with the love and support of his extended Christian family and his best friend who never lets him give up. There are others who travel this road with each of them. For Anne, there is Lois, Anne’s aunt, a genius at her work, but a little slower at becoming a mature adult. Suddenly she finds herself responsible for Anne. Mrs. Allison, Lois’s neighbor becomes a substitute grandmother who brings a new understanding of Jesus to Anne. Philip has Nathan, his older brother who feels guilt over not being with the family when the accident occurred. Then there is Jerry, the little boy who, in his despair, hears Jesus say his friend will live and he will play a big part in his recovery. Anne is growing up in California and Philip in Minnesota. Both children become doctors, Anne a hematologist/oncologist and Philip an orthopedic surgeon. A question remains, do their paths ever cross? Why, of course...but when and how?
