With respect to the Early Jezirah IIIb period (2450-2340 BC), the plan of the Upper City has been largely exposed. The progressive extension of the excavation areas revealed the city plan at its peak, around 2400/2375 BC.
The excavations were moved from the Acropolis to the Upper City, its Eastern Palace, its northwest district, its dwelling quarters, its large open public areas, its economic sectors and its workshops. Thus the 2010 campaign, like the former ones, should be considered of primary importance for the history of architecture and city planning.
