Juan Manuel Castro Prieto - Sete #11

The yearly assignment of photographing the French city of Sète was given this year to the Spanish photographer Juan Manuel Castro Prieto. He focused his attention on the many young artists that reside in Sète, thus constructing a truly strange universe, half hoarding and half second-hand market, a mixture of memory and materialised dreams. In composing his portrait of the city Castro Prieto has discovered an endless series of existing, used or forgotten images, which he recaptured in his own way, lending them a new meaning.
