This annual looks at not only wonderful buildings from around the world but also the people associated with them. Travelling through time, the book starts with the charm of the present, looking at both residential and commercial buildings. Brazil, America, England, Japan and Italy all contribute to the global flavour, and articles on Giacometti, Florence Knoll, Morris Lapidus and Gino Garfatti set out to deepen our knowledge and understanding of them and their work. The past has been given fresh life in the next section of the book. Museums born in old buildings, cultural centres living in Art Deco structures, and modern markets busily active in ancient squares all attest to the evolution and flexibility of buildings and urban spaces throughout the ages, be they in Venice, London or New York.
