Description

This volume presents and investigates fuzzy controllers - a method of rule-based rough modelling using fuzzy information - from a mathematical point of view. Since the end of the 1980s, methods from fuzzy logic have been the sources for remarkable applications of computer modelling in fields which has seemed essentially inaccessible before. The basic notions form fuzzy set theory and many-valued logic are explained in detail, and a theory of fuzzy equations and systems of them is developed and applied to fuzzy controllers. For his work on fuzzy logic, Professor Gottwald was awarded the Forschungspreis Technische Kommunikation of the SEL-Foundation in Stuttgart in 1992.
