The book provides a comprehensive review on insect accessory reproductive structures. The topics covered include the de- velopment and genetic controlof differentiation of the re- productive efferent duct systems and associated structures. With regard to the female systems, special emphasis has been placed on the functions of the follicle cells and their role inyolk protein synthesis, the formation of the vitelline membrane and the chorion, nurse cells and trophocytes in the ovary, the role of duct-associated structures and of the fat body in yolk protein synthesis. For the other sex, the male accessory glands have been reviewed in detail.
