Study of Protection Scheme of 1*110 MW Power Plant at Goalpara Khulna: Fundamentals of Switchgear Protection

The use of power is increasing very rapidly and the power is becoming more and more complex. Any disturbance at any part of the system may cause a serious threat to the stability of the total system. So, a very fast and perfect must be taken to detect and eliminate any kind of fault. Hence study of protection scheme for any equipment is required. The objective of this study is to know the protection scheme of power plant, especially Generator, Transformer and Motor. Power system consists of several important equipments. Out of them, the three principal and most important elements are Generator, Transformer and Motor. These are very costly. So these equipment need sufficient maintenance and careful attention against damage caused by different faults and abnormal conditions, providing suitable protection schemes. For practical knowledge about the protection elements, the 1*110 MW Power station Goalpara, Khulna is studied. Moreover a brief description about protective relaying has been studied.
