Description

Stress is emerging as one of the most common problem of the present century. A combination of psychological, social, biological and genetic factors alone or in combination are responsible for stress. Considering these the present study has been conducted on the Sunni Muslim of Delhi, to identify psychological, social, biological and molecular determinants of stress and to understand the relation between stress and Psychosociobiogenetic variables. Data of the present study is collected from different parts of Delhi. The sample for the present study comprise of 200 Sunni Muslims of 35-65 years. Present study reveals that there is inverse relationship between stress and social factors (education, occupation, income). Stress has significant positive association with depression. Socioeconomic status and stress also show inverse relation. Genotype 2R3R, 3R4R, 4R5R, 4R7R and 6R7R were present only among the individual who had high stress but genotype 4R4R was most common and present at all stress level. It is clear from the present study that the manifestation of stress as an outcome is multifactorial, dependent upon various social, psychological, biological and genetic conditions.
