Description ▲
Self-compacting concrete (SCC) flows under its own weight thereby requires no ‎compaction. One of its requirements is high cement content, making it a major ‎contributor to greenhouse gases. To reduce the contribution to these gases and also ‎harness the benefits of SCC, there is need for a portion of the cement, 'the culprit' to be replaced by locally ‎available supplementary cementitious materials – limestone powder (LSP) and natural ‎pozzolan (NP). LSP and NP have proven to be a very good filling agent and highly ‎pozzolanic respectively, thereby improving the microstructure of the developed ‎concrete. In order to study the feasibility of using the SCC with the locally available ‎materials‎, mechanical and durability properties of the produced SCC were tested. The ‎results proved satisfactory and therefore furnished in the book.‎
