This book entitled “Study of different relaxation modes in chiral liquid crystal materials” describes studies of thermodynamical, optical and electrical properties of two highly tilted chiral liquid crystalline materials. Important features of antiferroelectric liquid crystals are tri state switching behavior, easy DC compensation, microsecond response, hemispherical viewing angle. In spite of all these properties AFLCs give incomplete extinction of the light in the dark state resulting in poor contrast. Solution to this problem has been found with the synthesis of material having large tilt angle.
