‘Ilm al Kalām

This Nomenclature is about the Development of Scholastic Philosophy (‘Ilm ul Kalam) in India. The idea of this nomenclature is to present the relation Scholastic Philosophy has with other Philosophical studies, Islamic Jurisprudence and the traditions of the Prophet (S.A.W.). The origin of Scholastic Philosophy, its negative and positive aspects, factors responsible for its growth, whether positive or negative.More over this dissertation explores how Scholastic Philosophy (‘Ilm ul Kalam)originated and developed in India and in what way it differed from the Scholastic Philosophy (‘Ilm ul Kalam) which originated in Arabia. India here means the undivided India before partition, which includes but not restricted to present day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. The aspect of Scholastic Philosophy (‘Ilm ul Kalam) discussed, has opened up a new vista of theological thought among the Muslim Ummah in India.
