This book, exploring the social history of football in Trabzon, seeks the roots of the identification of the city with the game. Football did not only function just as a sport or a recreational activity, but also it acquired an important role of carrying the city onto the national agenda. By taking into account other political, social and economic dynamics, the book aims to shed light both on the history of the game in Trabzon and of the city itself.
