Europe is committed to becoming adynamic knowledge-based economycombining higher education standardswith economic growth, employment andsocial inclusion by 2010. Education andtraining policies are central to achievingthis goal agreed by the European Councilat Lisbon in March 2000. In 2007, Cedefop, with the support of itsGoverning Board (comprising experts fromthe European Commission, Member Statesand social partners) will continue toprovide its expertise to support evidencebasedpolicy-making and promote closerEuropean cooperation in vocationaleducation and training.
