PROTECTIVE ROLE OF ANISEEDS (PIMPINELLA ANISUM L.)IN TYPE 2 DIABETES: Under supervision of Dr (Mrs.) B Andallu

The treatment with aniseeds to type 2 diabetics effectively controlled oxidative stress by altering a number of erythrocyte and serum biochemical parameters without any detrimental effects. Besides, the treatment influenced the serum lipids and lipoproteins indicating the seeds to be hypolipidemic, improved haematological status and erythrocyte indices of the subjects. Aniseeds significantly influenced almost all the parameters by virtue of a number of phytochemicals, minerals and vitamins present in the seeds having therapeutic effects. The synergistic action of the bioactive compounds present in aniseeds would have resulted in such versatile therapeutic effect.
