Climate change is now becoming an environmental and development challenge of the 21st century. These extreme events affect livelihoods, especially those of the poor. Inception meetings with key stakeholders, PRA assessment, awareness creation conferences, & focus group discussion were conducted. Local coping mechanisms i.e. terrace on the farming land, planting improved seeds, apply artificial and manure fertilizers in the fields, irrigation, sowing short period crop. Current climate variability is already imposing a significant challenge to Ethiopia by affecting food security, water and energy supply, poverty reduction sustainable development efforts, causing natural resource degradation and natural disasters.
