Description

The phenomenon of politics at the organizational level has recently received a great deal of attention for being characterized by manipulation and self-serving behavior which has the potential to disrupt organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Organizational environments that are characterized by lack of trust and scarcity of resources tend to attract more political activity than situations that are not so characterized. This forces organizations to reconsider their implementations, perspectives, and weaknesses in terms of closing the doors for political activities. But, this situation is more serious exclusively for hospitality organizations compared to other industries, because tourism is human-oriented, such that, behaviors and attitudes play the biggest role along with the just in time solutions to problems that calls for reciprocal trust climate and team-work which negatively related to organizational politics. Therefore, the purpose of this book is to examine the effects of trust climate and scare resources as antecedences on superior politics and these political behaviors on subordinates’ performance, job satisfaction and commitment.
