Gert & Uwe Tobias

The striking woodcuts and other works of Romanian-born twin brothers,
Gert and Uwe Tobias, are linked to the folkloric and ornamental
styles of their native land, mixed with pop culture, fantasy and social
commentary. This large-format, full-color exhibition catalog, their
third book, is the first art historical monograph of their work, featuring
reproductions of their amazing gigantic woodcuts, made in a
complicated and time-consuming process. The book also includes
numerous documentations of their exhibition installations, showing the
way the Tobias brothers fence in whole areas with display cabinets,
drawing pads or series of prints. Extensive interviews and interpretive
texts in English and German shed light on their artistic method.
