House:Yu Ogata & Ichiro Ogata Ono

Ruins engulfed by sand dunes in Namibia where a once flourishing diamond industry used to exist; neglected 19th century Western-Style villas in Guangdong China once built by successful labourers that returned from the west; the outlandishly decorated, ultra-Baroque churches of Mexico; and, the hefty and somewhat ramshackle vernacular concrete housing of surabu-ya found in Okinawa. House contains a rich collection of full-colour photographs taken by Yu Ogata and Ichiro Ogata Ono in their travels through five different countries. The precision and detail of architectural photography is combined with momentary emotions and the organic temporality of these magnificent buildings forming a beautiful mediation on the universal form of the house.
