Born in 1954 in Yancheng of Jiangsu Province, Cao Wenxuan is a writer and scholar, and now is the professor and doctoral tutor of the Chinese Department of Peking University while serving as a member of the National Committee of Chinese Writers Association and vice chairman of Beijing Writers Association. His representative novels include The Grass House, The Red Roof Tiles, Bronze Sunflower, etc. His major academic works include Study on Literary Phenomenon of the 1980s in China, Study on Literary Phenomenon at the End of the Twentieth Century in China, The Second World - Philosophical Interpretation of Literature and Art, etc. In 2003, Cao Wenxuans Collected Works (Nine Volumes) is published by the Writers Publishing House. Many of his works have been translated into English, German, Japanese, French, Korean, etc.
