Pre- and Protohistoric Andhra Pradesh Up to 500 B.C.

This volume traces archaeological research undertaken in Andhra Pradesh going back to the 19th century when the cultures of the region were explored and documented. Contributors to this volume have, for the first time, (a) updated and brought together this information on the pre- and protohistoric cultural phases in different physiographical zones; (b)provided synchronic and diachronic interpretations of past land-use patterns, subsistence economies and other social attributes perceptible in the archaeological record; and (c)traced the past-present continuum in the early historic period and the emergence of Andhra Pradesh as an entity, cutting across the subregional boundaries of the Deccan (the erstwhile Satavahana domain).
