Geoinformatics for Decentralized Planning and Governance

Geoinformatics has truly emerged as a state-of-the-art technology and decision tool in the areas of facility-utility mapping, resource planning, disaster management, and e-governance. Recent advances in the field of remote sensing, in the Geographic Information System, and in the Global Positioning System have further enhanced the future potential of geoinformatics. This book is a collection of papers presented and discussed in India at the National Seminar on "Role of Geoinformatics in Decentralized Planning" at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. The papers examine various important application areas in geoinformatics and recent trends.
