E.M.Forster: A Tribute

E.M. Forster was a remarkable personality whose life and works helped bridge the gap between the cultures of the East and the West. This book was published in 1964, a year that marked both Foster's 84th birthday as well as the 40th anniversary of the publication of A Passage to India. This volume contains the essays of six prominent writers from the Indian subcontinent who came together to pay tribute to the magic evoked by Foster's writing. It also includes Foster's tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and selections from Abinger Harvest, The Hill of Devi, A Passage To India and Two Cheers for Democracy.
