The book emphasizes structure activity relationship, molecules in three dimensions and spectroscopic methods. The arrangement of subject matter is based on homologous series and provides a comprehensive discussion of nomenclature, structure and properties of organic compounds. Special emphasis has been given to aromaticity, aromatic substitution and aromatic orientation. The topics have been discussed taking adequate number of illustrations of not only benzene, but polynuclear hydrocarbon and heterocyclic compounds also. Natural products like carbohydrates, terpenoids, amino acids and proteins, alkaloids, vitamins, purines and nucleic acids etc. have been included to widen the scope of the book. Introductory account of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and enzymes has also been included.
