The progression of cancer appears now less intractable than it did in the past, attributable in large part to the enormous advances made in the understanding of the molecular events that occur during disease progression. The book focuses on the nature of the molecular events, the genetics of the disease in terms of temporal changes of gene expression, the degree and nature of the change in gene expression, and, where appropriate, the visual alterations of the pathology of cancer. The authors attempt to link the genetic alterations to changes in the biological behavior of cancers and cancer cells. The reasoning and inferences are made from a fairly wide spectrum of human cancer.
