Description

From the Preface
Electrochemical fabrication techniques (electrochemical deposition or electrodeposition), which has been practiced for many years, give unique advantages over the other technologies, which lead to increasing of its applications in the electronics, magnetic recording, microsystems industries and magnetoelectronics. The electrodeposition methods are well known as an inexpensive and simple process for the fabrication of metallic materials. Also the electrodeposition can made a wide range of nanostructured materials. With the emergence of nanostructured materials over the last decade, electrodepositon techniques have provided a route to a variety of new nanomaterials. This include nanocrystalline deposits, nanotubes, nanowires, nanocomposites and nanomultilayers, which exhibit peculiar and interesting mechanical and physical properties such as increase mechanical strength, enhance diffusivity, electrical resistive and higher specific heat.
Electroplating is widely used as a cheap and versatile surface finishing process for corrosion and wear protection as well as decorative applications. However, due to the environmental problems produced from electrodeposition technologies; the electrodeposition industries are undergoing fundamental changes to develop clean technologies which are today an essential task. Therefore, the replacement of cadmium, lead and chromium coatings by other metal or alloy coatings is now industrially applicable.
This book contains reviews for the new and traditional information on the electrodeposition methods. This text is intended to serve as an introduction for the study of advanced electrodeposition methods and is aimed towards graduates and researchers studying electrodeposition or those doing work in the electrodeposition industries.
