The Giant Awakens: Punjab Industry and Growth

The transformation of the Punjab region in India from a thriving agricultural economy to a faltering industrialized economy is addressed in this study. With an analytical approach that seeks to integrate the cultural, geographical, political, and socioeconomic strands of Punjab’s history, this survey finds that while agricultural statistics have soared, industrial indicators are far below expectations and in fact dismal in comparison to other states.
