The book "Illustrated Synopsis of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases" is a 'gist' of the common skin conditions, well illustrated with more than 249 clinical pictures, 75 line diagrams and 171 tables. An effort has been made to keep the book simple by: encapsulating a synopsis, which gives the summary of what is to follow; by breaking the discussion on the different skin diseases into etiology (usually simplified by use of tables), epidemiology, clinical features (illustrated with clinical photographs and body diagrams to etch a long lasting impression on to the student's mind), investigations (often the skin biopsy findings are illustrated with line diagrams), diagnosis and treatment. The salient diagnostic features are re-emphasised and differential diagnosis is discussed as a table-this being a unique feature of the book; and, by not including rare skin disorders, though some skin manifestations relevant to the internist have been incorporated.
