Africa My Destiny

In November 1961 Peter Hildebrand Meienberg was sent to Tanganyika/Tanzania. During these over 55 years he has witnessed, and was involved in, the political and social upheavals and turbulences in several countries in the East of the continent and acted as a pastor, teacher, social worker, prison chaplain, author and publisher of liturgical and political books, musician and caretaker of refugees. This book describes the bloom and gloom of his pastoral responsibilities towards God and his fellow brothers and sisters. Peter Hildebrand Meienberg, born in 1929 in St.Gallen, Switzerland, is a monk and missionary of the Benedictine abbey of Uznach (SG). His present place of operation is in Nairobi, where he acts as a prison chaplain, and where he founded a charitable institution, Faraja Trust, in 1999.
