If you think of contemporary mexican writers, a name that inevitably comes to mind is that of Alfonso Reyes. His was a literature rich on the multiplicity of expressions and desires to expand the emotional limits of the poem, essay, fiction, biography, drama and literary criticism and the arts; all those genres that he cultivated. In Reyes' works pulsate the deep Mexican roots merging with the acute awareness of the American and European worlds, and in particular with the richness of Spanish culture, always experienced as and lived as his own. This book is a joint effort of the Instituto Cervantes, Fondo Editorial de Nuevo Leon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, the National Council for Culture and the Arts, the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Universidad de Nuevo Leon. It explores aspects of the life and work of Reyes, as well as the memory of the exhibition in which he shares his taste for art and the written word.
