Sherlock Holmes, fictional character created in 1887 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is a 'Detective adviser' at the late nineteenth century London, noted for his intelligence and skillful use of observation and deductive reasoning to solve difficult cases. It is the prototype of brain researcher par excellence, and strongly influenced the subsequent detective fiction.
